Exploring is a career-based program. It is part of Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14
(and have completed 8th grade) and through 20 years old.
Exploring is a program that allows students to gain valuable on the job experience.
With the cooperation of area businesses, Explorer units or posts are developed to create a sense of awareness of day to day activities of our
everyday community workforce. There is a recognition system, and the chartered organization provides an advisor and the training begins. Valuable lessons are taught,
and the experience allows youth a better understanding of their potential career of choice.
Exploring's purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning
of interdependence in their personal relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations
develop specific Explorer posts by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The results
are programs of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow and develope. Explorer posts can specialize in a variety of
career skills. Exploring programs are based on five areas of emphasis; career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character education
and leadership experience.
